Folding Octagonal Poker Table How to build your very own folding, octagonal poker table! What materials to make the table from? Here I guess you are limited to what you can get your hands on for the price you can afford to pay. This table will be made out of 3 separate pieces:
- A base board that the legs will screw into. (2 * (1600mm * 800mm * 12mm) MDF).
- The racetrack which will be sanded and varnished. ( 2 * (1600mm * 800mm * 4mm) Untreated Ply Wood).
- The padded rail and the padded centre board which will be covered with material. (2 * (1600mm * 800mm * 9mm) MDF).
I've read a lot on other sites about not using MDF. I've decided to give it ago for a few reasons:
- I've used the material before.
- I need the extra strength that is gives for its thickness (although it's not light).
- Nowhere on the finished table will the MDF been seen other than underneath the table. My guess is if you're playing poker and someone is under the table they've probably drunk too much and won't notice anyway!
- The price was right!
With hind sight (I have just finished cutting the table) MDF is dusty to work with when cutting! |
