Product: Dice Poker Chips (Metal Insert)

Review: These were my second every set of poker chips. I started with a carousel of plastic chips (which were a good start) before buying these for my monthly poker night.

Compared with a plastic set of poker chips, these are pretty good. They weigh (typically 12g) and come in 5 different colours of unmarked chips.

What we really liked about these chips was the weight and the clink sound they made when moving your chips around.

These chips are often referred to as "Casino Quality" chips. Unfortunately, they are not. Sure sellers will even try to tell you that they are made of clay! This is also untrue. These chips are mass produced (probably in China) and they gain the weight in the chip by adding a metal insert into the centre of the chip and then coating the chip with a composite material. Casino chips are purely made of clay and have whatever image hot pressed into the clay centre so that it cannot be removed or peeled off without damaging the entire chip.

Price: I purchased one set of 300 chips for $49.99. You can pick these up for much less these days.

Summary: For your average poker night these chips are fine. I personally like playing with numbered chips as after a few beers it's always hard to remember what the white ones are worth!
